Why the Store Starts as a Room

The usual sequence is: pick a platform, load the templates, wire the payments, then go looking for something to sell and something to say. The result is a checkout in search of a store. You have walked through a hundred of them.

This project runs the sequence in reverse. First the room — the shelves, the light, the writing on the walls. The products stand where they will stand. The pages sit where they will sit. You can walk through the whole thing and nothing asks for your card, because there is nothing to charge you for yet.

Starting as a room is also an honesty mechanism. A preview labeled as a preview cannot oversell. Every product here says so, plainly. When checkout arrives, it will be attached to objects that already earned their shelf space.

The commerce layer comes later, deliberately: a storefront connection first, then a cart, then hosted checkout. Each layer gets added when the one under it is solid. The room is load-bearing. The register is furniture.

Zine Collective is a preview storefront. Nothing is for sale yet.
